Phyllis A. Entner, 78, of Mason City, Iowa formerly of Clear Lake, Iowa died Friday August 28, 2015 at the Good Shepherd Health Center, Mason City, Iowa.

Memorial services will be 10:30 AM Monday September 14, 2015 at the Harvest Bible Church, Clear Lake, Iowa with Rev. John Tank officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa.

Visitation will be Sunday Sept. 13, 2015 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, Iowa and then one hour before the service on Monday at the church.

Family suggests memorials to American Cancer Society.

Phyllis was born December 5, 1936 in Mason City, Iowa the daughter of Elry Clifton and Austa Ellen (Galloway) Gourley. She graduated from Nora Springs High School in 1955. She attended and graduated from Mason City Junior College with an Associate in Arts degree in June 1957. She married Dale Entner August 17, 1957 at the Wesley United Methodist Church, Mason City, Iowa. Determined to continue her education, she later attended Iowa Wesleyan College, Mt Pleasant, Iowa and completed her Bachelors of Arts with a degree in education.

She was a lifelong teacher. While living in Ft. Madison she taught at the elementary school. She and Dale moved to Clear Lake, Iowa in 1981 where they purchased and operated the Sunset Bay Marina. She was a substitute teacher and teacher’s aide for many years in the Clear Lake School system and tutored children and adults in reading. She also owned and operated a day care in Clear Lake. She centered her life on helping children. She was a former member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Mason City and Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake where she taught Sunday school for many years and was part of the Do-Day quilters.

She enjoyed volunteering at Opportunity Village and also spent two winters at Wycliffe Bible Center in Dallas, TX working with children. She loved seeing the summer campers that came to the Marina, traveling with her nieces, spending time with her friends, but especially being surrounded by family.

She is survived by her three children Tim (Sue) Entner, Clear Lake, Iowa, Mark Entner, Mason City, Iowa and Jeff (Jen) Entner, San Diego, California; four grandchildren Mike (Jessica) Entner, Nevada, Iowa, Alexis Entner, Miami, Florida, Raelynn Thilges, Secaucus, New Jersey and Christopher Entner, Cedar Falls, Iowa; two great-grandchildren Aidan Entner and Sadie Entner, Nevada, Iowa; her sister Mary Woodward, Mason City, Iowa and her former husband Dale Entner, Clear Lake, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents Elry and Austa Gourley and five brothers; Cliff, LeRoy, Verlyn, Richard and Phillip Gourley.
