Dick Darwin Grattidge, 88, Walker, Minnesota, died Aug. 14, 2015, in Park Rapids, Minnesota.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015, 1-4 p.m. at the Clear Lake V.F.W. A Time of Sharing will be held at 2 p.m. with Military Honors provided by the Clear Lake V.F.W.

Inurnment will be held Oct. 26, 10:30 a.m. at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Highway 122 W., Mason City. A gathering of friends and family will be held Saturday, 5 p.m. at the Other Place Restaurant, Clear Lake.

Dick was born Oct. 24, 1926, in Clear Lake, the son of Harold and Kathryn Ann (Hunter) Grattidge.
He graduated from Clear Lake High School.

Dick enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 at Mason City. He served in the Pacific Theater, with an honorable discharge in 1946 at San Diego, California.

He married Helen Baker in Clear Lake, and to this union six children were born.

Dick worked for the Williams Pipeline for 36 years.

He married Etta F. Morris in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1987. They retired to Park Rapids and southern Texas. Dick enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and anything "outdoors.:

He was a member of the V.F.W — and served as a past commander — and was a member of Pheasants Forever, the American Legion and the First Congregational Church.

Dick is survived by his wife Etta Grattidge, Walker, Minnesota; children Vickie Willis, Comanche, Cathy Johnson, Comanche, Mark (Christie) Grattidge, Clear Lake, Barry Grattidge, Knoxville, Tennessee, and Lisa (Dale) Goodman, Comanche; stepsons Robert Stanger, Milo, and Wilson Phillips, Des Moines; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, sister Nancy Cox Munyon and daughter Tracy Gratttidge.
