Harlan Eldridge Riggle, 76 of Clear Lake, died Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City.
A funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, with Rev. Kirk M. Wilkie officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, 1300 Marion Rd. SE, Rochester, MN, with military honors rendered by the Rochester American Legion Post 92. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church.

Harlan was born May 14, 1939, in Fairmont, MN, the son of Harold E. and Martha M. (Forbes) Riggle. A graduate of Truman High School in Minnesota, he enlisted in the United States Army on December 4, 1961. While serving in the Army he was stationed at Ft. Hood in Texas and Ft. Carson in Colorado. He married Darlene Urban on August 29, 1969, in South Branch Township, MN.
Harlan was a welder for Chicago Northwestern and Union Pacific Railroad for 33 years, while living in Truman and Stewartville, MN, and Clear Lake. He was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman, Zion Lutheran Church in Stewartville, and Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4868 in Clear Lake, and Civil Air Patrol.
Harlan and Darlene enjoyed camping throughout their lives in every state, except Hawaii. He also enjoyed cross country skiing, going on a number of cruises and fishing. He especially loved spending time with his grandsons.
Harlan is survived by his wife, Darlene of Clear Lake; two sons, Brian (Jennifer) Riggle of Cedar Rapids and Shawn (Cindy) Riggle of Woodbridge, VA; six grandsons, Zander, Levi, David, Aidan, Ethan, and Mason; three brothers, Orville (Carol) Riggle of San Gregowo, CA, Frank Riggle of Overland Park, KS, and Howard Riggle of Hutchinson, MN; and two brothers-in-law, Ronald Shoen of Truman, MN and Robert Sandmeyer of St. James, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-father, Raymond Brown; two sisters, Elsie Shoen and Alice Sandmeyer; and two sisters-in-law, Betty and Alice Riggle.
