Cinda “Secory” Michel, 64, of Clear Lake, Iowa lost her battle with ALS Wednesday May 27, 2015 at her twin sister Linda’s home in Mason City, Iowa. Due to her wishes she was cremated.

A celebration of her life will be Monday June 1, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Central Gardens of North Iowa, Clear Lake with a time of sharing at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery at a later date.

Cinda was born May 1, 1951 in Mason City, Iowa the daughter of Ralph and Catherine (Barber) Secory. She grew up in Clear Lake and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1969. She then attended North Iowa Area Community College, Mason City.

She married James Thornton and to this union had a son Troy.

She moved to Pittsburgh, Pa. in 1975, where she married Greg Michel and raised their daughter Rachael. While living in Pittsburgh she worked in retail for many years.

She moved back to Clear Lake, Iowa due to health issues and to be closer to her family. She was diagnosed with ALS in 2012.

Cinda loved traveling, camping, canoeing and was known for her free spirit. She always enjoyed being dressed up and never was without her lipstick and heels, embracing her nickname, “Queenie.” She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Cinda is survived by her two children Troy Thornton, Mason City, Iowa and Rachael Michel, Pittsburgh, PA.; four grandchildren Haley Thornton, Isiah Betterton, Isaac Thornton and Malakye Talley; step-mother Karen Secory, Clear Lake; her siblings Don (Judy) Secory, Gilbert, AZ., Mike (Bonnie) Secory, Clear Lake, Linda Graff, Mason City, Pam Marsh, Clear Lake, Tom Secory, Clear Lake and Danniele (R.J.) Sexton, Clear Lake and a host of extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Katie Secory; brother Steve Secory; nephew Michael Secory and a great nephew Andrew Schroeder.
