“Crowd Packs Church for Naylor Rites
Is survived by Aged Parents and a Sister; Beautiful Floral Offerings.
Clear Lake, Nov. 8.—A large crowd of friends and neighbors attended the funeral services for Miss Nellie Naylor at the Methodist church this afternoon with the Rev. .R. Tumbleson in charge. Beautiful floral offering banked the alter of the church.
Miss Naylor’s death occurred at the home of her sister, Mrs. Reba Curvo, south Fourth street, early Sunday morning, after an illness of several months. Miss Naylor submitted to a major operation at the hospital in Mason City in August. No hope was given for her recovery and her wish to come back to Clear Lake was granted. She was taken care of at the home of her sister but gradually became weaker.
Miss Naylor was born April 8, 1887, on a farm in Lake township. She spent her childhood and girlhood days there. In 1916 she moved with her parents to their present home on south Fourth street. Later she became a sales woman in the Sondrof company store and for ten years she faithfully held that position.
Miss Naylor was a member of the Methodist church and Sunday school. For the past four years she had been the secretary and treasurer of the Sunday school department. She leaves her aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Naylor, two sisters, Mrs. Reba Curvo and Mrs. Ole Skadeland and Max Curvo and two nieces, Alma Curve and Mae Skadeland to mourn her death.
Burial was made in the Clear Lake Cemetery.” (Mason City Globe Gazette, Nov. 8, 1927, pg 12)
