“Daker Burial Rites at Home Here Friday
Old Resident of Clear Lake Buried Today in Local Cemetery.
Clear Lake, Nov. 4.—Funeral services for Alfred Benjamin Dker, 68 years old, who died at his home two miles south of Clear Lake Tuesday morning, after a lingering illness the past year, were held this afternoon at the home, with the Rev. W. B. Milne, pastor of the Congregational church in charge.
Alfred Benjamin Daker was the youngest son of Mary and John Daker, born at Delhi, July 13, 1859. When he was 15 years oldhe came with his parents to Clear Lake where the family resided on a farm in Lake township.
On Dec. 25, 1883, he was married to Sarrah Cook. Nine children was born to this union, four preceding him in death. The four daughter are: Mrs. Jesse Trego, Clear Lake; Mrs. Cella Heath, Inspiration, Ariz.; Mrs. Florence Jackson, Keosouqua, and Mrs. Mildred Kilburn, Minneapolis, and one son, John Daker of Wheaten, Minn.
For 30 years the family had resided on the farm in Lake township and in 1916 it moved into Clear Lake. After three years of town life they moved on to a small farm in south Oakwood. During the pastorate of the Rev. Wilber M. Evans, Mr. Daker joined the First Congregational church. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows lodge.
Burial took place in the Clear Lake cemetery with the Odd Fellows in charge of service.” (Mason City Globe Gazette, Nov. 4, 1927, pg 10)
