“The funeral of the late Mrs. G. W. Gist who passed away at her home on August 11th after a lingering illness, was held Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. W. M. Evan. Burial took place at Clear Lake cemetery.
Miranda M. Kessler was born in Geneva, Ill., November 25, 1844. At the age of four years she moved with her parents to Monticello, Wisconsin, where she resided until a young woman. She was married to George Gist at Monroe, Wis., on April 4, 1866. In 1870 they moved to Fayette, Ia., and in 1891 they moved to Cerro Gordo county where they have since resided, having lived in Clear Lake for the past fifteen years. On April 4, 1916, they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
To this happy union were born five children, four of whom are left with the bereaved husband to mourn the loss of a loving mother. The children are Jesse and Charles Gist of Milbank, S.D.; Mrs. Eugene Cook of Mason City, and Harry Gist of Cohasset, Minn.”
