Jean Marie Fry, 84, of 425 20th Street S.W., Mason City died Monday, Feb. 20, 2012 at the Rockwell Community Nursing Home.

Funeral services for Jean will be held at 10:30 a.m, Thursday, Feb. 23, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City with the Reverend Sid Bohls officiating. Burial will be held at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., today, Wednesday, Feb. 22, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be designated to the Jean Fry Memorial Fund in care of the family.

Jean Marie Fry was one of 12 children born to George and Myrtle Auchampach Brownlee in Popejoy, on Dec. 23, 1927. Jean attended grade school in Popejoy and later in Iowa Falls. Jean was a waitress in Iowa Falls and was united in marriage to her first husband, J. Fred Mills on May 10, 1945, and to this union, two children were born: Twila and Tanya. Years later, the marriage ended and she married Darwin Fry in 1964, bringing his son, Kip Fry into the family. Jean was a homemaker all of her life taking care of her three precious children. Jean and Darwin enjoyed traveling all around the United States and Europe. Darwin passed away in May of 1987.

Jean was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mason City.

Jean was an immaculate housekeeper and a fabulous cook and the family had many gatherings at her home. Jean enjoyed playing cards and mushroom hunting. Her passion was being in the outdoors, walking, gardening, and attending to her flowers. She also enjoyed reading and had exceptional crocheting skills. Most importantly, her family came first and she enjoyed spending her time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Twila (Norm) Luker, Mason City, Tanya (LaVern) Dahl, Mason City, and Kip Fry, Grapevine, Texas; grandchildren, Deanna (Duane) Loeschen, Mason City, N. Scott (Elisabeth) Palmer, Carrollton, Texas, Lorri (Steve) Caster, Clive, Tiffani (Brad) Allen, Hampton, and Courtny Trappe and her fiancé, Josh Beals, Mason City; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Nate, Parker, Jake, Drake, Derek, Wyatt, Kylie, Tucker, and Sophia; sister, Bernita Noble, Sioux City, Iowa and her sister-in-law, Yvonne McGavock, La Crosse, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, J. Fred and Darwin; siblings, Gerald, Winston, Arlis, Arlene, Phebe, Graydon, Delores, Crystal, Delpha, and Calvin and great- granddaughter, Zimry.
