MASON CITY - Frederick "Fritz" W. Funk, 80, of Mason City, died Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday (April 25, 2009) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. with the Rev. Kent A. Mechler, Chaplain-Good Shepherd Health Center officiating. Interment will be held in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday.

Memorials may be directed to the Frederick Fritz W. Funk memorial fund in care of the family.

Frederick Fritz W. Funk was born March 17, 1929 in Mason City, IA the son of Jacob and Louise (Schmidt) Funk. He attended schools in Mason City. He married Marion Taylor in 1949 in Princeton, MO, they were life long Mason City residents. He worked at Armours Co. for many years until its closing, he then went on to work at Winnebago Industries and also Mason City Business Systems. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was especially fond of his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Marion of Mason City; children, Stephen Funk of Mason City, Cathy Arndt and husband Cyrus of Mason City, Vicki Bramsen and husband Dennis of Mason City, Molly Beier of Mason City and Jayme Funk of Mason City; twelve grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Frank Funk and wife Marjorie of Mason City; sisters, Mary Allen and husband Jesse of Mason City and Regina Ackerman of Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Christopher Bramsen; great-grandson, Brandon Regan; sisters, Betty and Rosie Funk; brothers, Jake, Phillip, Willy, Albert, Joe, and Herman Funk.
