Mason City - Clara Laurel Fransen, 91, of Mason City died Sunday, June 1, 2008 at the I.O.O.F. Home in Mason City.

A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, June 6, 2008, at 10:30 A.M. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 North Adams Avenue, in Mason City, with Reverend Jon M. Seda officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Mason City following the service.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 5, 2008 at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd Street Northeast, Mason City, from 4-7 P.M. with a rosary and scriptural wake service starting at 6:30 P.M.

Clara was born April 3, 1917, the daughter of John and Rose (Schneider) Grein in Mason City. She graduated from Holy Family Catholic School in 1936. Clara married Howard Fransen in 1938 at Holy Family Catholic Church, and to this union 3 children were born. Clara’s main focus in life was raising her children, which at the time was hard with a limited budget.

After being a homemaker most of her life, Clara became employed at Buehler’s Café for 20 years. Clara was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, and enjoyed flowers, gardening, and crocheting.

She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Staub, Mason City, and Nancy (Terry) Bagwell, Alturas, California, her son, John Fransen, Mason City, 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild, her sister, Alice Mulhern, Mason City, and many nieces and nephews.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Howard, great granddaughter, Trisha Davis, and 3 sisters and 1 brother.
