MASON CITY - Geraldine Mae (Prather) Fountas, 61, of 736 15th Place N.E., died Sunday (Nov. 16, 1997) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit of Progressive Supranulear Palsy.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Greek Orthodox Church of Transfiguration, 1311 Second St. S.W., with the Rev. Joseph Mirowski officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Greek Orthodox Church of Transfiguration, with a Trisagion Service beginning at 7:30 p.m. Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E. is in charge of arrangements.

Those wishing to express their sympathy may direct memorials to the Jeri Fountas Memorial Fund.

Jeri was born March 26, 1936, in Ruthven, the daughter of Howard and Lillian (Prew) Prather. She graduated from Ruthven High School in 1955, and attended Hamilton Business College in Mason City. She worked as a secretary before her marriage, and as a unit clerk in the Mercy Birth Center at North Iowa Mercy Health Center from 1981 until 1995.

She married Jim Fountas on Jan. 22, 1956, at the Greek Orthodox Church of Transfiguration, Mason City.

Jeri's greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed counted-cross stitch, was an avid reader and loved music. Jeri was very active in her church, and openly shared her faith with many friends and family members.

Jeri is survived by her husband, Jim Fountas, Mason City; two children, George Fountas, Mason City, and Laurie Lichman and her husband, Tim, Mason City; two grandchildren, Sarah Beth Fountas and Jared James Lichman, both of Mason City; four sisters, Phyllis Henaman, Patricia McLarville and her husband, Ray, her twin sister, Bernadine Rodemeyer and her husband, Ken, all of Mason City, and Rosemart Dick and her husband, Gaylan, Milford; one brother, Jack Prather and his wife, Bonnie, Mason City; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her goddaughter, Patti Lynn Rodemeyr.
