A requiem high Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church for Lawrence A. Flaherty, 53, 124 County Circle, who died Monday [March 18, 1968] at a local hospital. The Rev. Paul J. Maguire will be the celebrant.
Mr. Flaherty was born Feb. 25, 1915, at Charter Oak, to Timothy and Margaret (Owens) Flaherty. He was sales manager for Blinder Oldsmobile.
He was a graduate of the Irwin High School, Irwin, and was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Air Force. He was married to Kathleen Adams on June 8, 1943, in Dougherty. He lived in Des Moines after the war until 1950 when he moved to Charles City. There he owned and operated the Buick and later the Rambler dealerships. He moved to Mason City two years ago.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen; two sons, Denis Flaherty, Austin Minn. and Michael Flaherty at the University of Iowa; two daughters, Mary and Anne Flaherty, both of Mason City; one grandson; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Flaherty, Knoxville; seven brothers and one sister.
Interment was made at Elmwood-St. Patrick Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa.
