Mrs. Mary Jones Rites Held Thursday
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Nell Jones, 78, South 9th street, were held Thursday afternoon with the interment in the Memorial Park cemetery. The Rev. Carrell, pastor of the Christian church, officiated. Mrs. Arleigh Eddy was vocalist and Mrs. Leonard Juhl the organist.
A prayer service was held at 1:30 at the Ward Funeral Home and the services at 2 o’clock at the church. The flowers were arranged by Mrs. Wallie Hogan and Mrs. Arthur Butts.
Pallbearers were Robert Jones, Edwin Jones, Melvin Jones, Lawrence Jones, Robert McCormick and Edwin Melch.
Mrs. Jones passed away Monday afternoon, December 24th, at a Mason City hospital. She was born March 26, 1873, Mary Nellie Blakney, daughter of Charles and Sarah Blakney, at Charleston, Ill. She was married to Hugh Michael Jones at Lexington, Ill., in 1897 and they lived there and at Hinckley, Ill., before moving to Swaledale in 1909. In December of 1941 they moved to Clear Lake, and in Jan. 1942, Mr. Jones passed away. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a son, Hugh.
She is survived by 5 sons, Charles, Decatur, Ill.; James, Peoria, Ill.;, Martin, Dows; Leo, Swaledale; and William, Mason City, and 4 daughters, Mrs. William Quilling, Garner; Mmes. Roy Rowe and Joe Aamondt, Mason City, and Mrs. Maynard Collins, Swaledale; 29 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mmes. Grace Lute and Emma Gray, Lexington, Ill.
Mrs. Jones was a member of the Christian church, Clear Lake.
