MASON CITY — Wayne R. Stromley, 73, of Mason City, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017, at Good Shepherd Health Center.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Wayne was born July 14, 1943, the son of Chris and Viola (Nelson) Stromley in Iowa City, Iowa. He attended Somber Christian School and later went on to serve his country in the United States Army. In June of 1961 Wayne was united in marriage to Dixie Cottrell. He was later married to Linda Smith.
Wayne’s passions included the Minnesota Vikings, Outlaw dirt track racing, NASCAR and especially carpentry. He enjoyed working with and designing things out of wood. During his trucking career he was grateful for his ability to see the country and all it had to offer. Over the years Wayne was known to enjoy his snowmobiling, socializing, raising lilies in his flower garden and collecting ball caps. He truly loved being around kids. He is a former member of the Carpenters Union 1313.
Those thankful for having shared in Wayne’s life include his wife, Linda Stromley; children, Donavon (Diana) Reinsmoen, Galen (Pat) Reinsmoen, Neil (Karin) Reinsmoen, Valerie (Mike) Grandgenett, Randy (Kim) Stromley, Wendy Renee (Tom) Henaman, Laurie (Greg) Wendel; two sisters, Barb (George) Marson, Marge (Dean) Saathoff; two brothers, Michael (Donna) Stromley, Rueben (Helen) Stromley; 23 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Stromley was preceded in death by his parents, several siblings, one son, Gary Dean Smith, and one grandson, Steven Henaman.
