IDENTITY OF KILLED BURGLAR

Mason City, July 1. – The identity of “Shortly” Smith, who was shot by the Ventura posse and afterwards died from the effects of his wounds, is at last fully established. Smith’s full name was Arthur Charles and he was born near Midland City, Ill., where his parents now live. Harry and Charles Summers of Clarion, cousins of the dead man, were in the city and by means of description and photographs which they possessed were able to fully establish his identity of the dead man as being their cousin. Smith left home seven years ago, being then 16 years of age.
