MASON CITY -- Helen R. Dann, 76, 1116 Maple Drive, died Saturday (Dec. 16, 1995) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia Ave., with the Rev. Merlin Ackerson and the Rev. Sharon Betsworth officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.

There will be no visitation; the body was cremated. Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., is in charge of arrangements.

Helen was born Oct. 7, 1919, at Des Moines, a daughter of Frederick J. and Amanda (Daeschner) Brecht. She attended rural Ankeny schools and graduated from Ankeny High School in 1937. She worked for Sears and Central National Bank in Des Moines as a secretary for several years. Helen was married to Alfred B. C. Dann on Dec. 7, 1945, at Danville. They celebrated their 50th anniversary earlier this month. They lived in Des Moines until 1952 when they moved to Mason City. She worked as a school secretary for the Mason City school system for some 18 years, retiring from Harding Elementary in 1982. She enjoyed her grandchildren and will be greatly missed by them.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lydia Circle, PEO Chapter KX, HEO Club, active member of Mended Hearts Chapter #222, Golden Girls Sewing Club and the Auxiliary Board of North Iowa Mercy Health Center.

Survivors include her husband, Alfred B.C. Dann, Mason City; daughters, Corinne Oleson and husband, Dean, Melbourne, Fla.; Claudia Cooper and husband, Dennis, Mason City, and Carie Dann, Greeley, Colo.; grandchildren, Christy Oleson, Melbourne, Fla.; Wesley and William Cooper, Mason City; sister, Edna Heiberg, Holland, Mich.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister in infancy.
