MASON CITY - Kathryn "Kay" Cahill, 71, of 1611 S. Massachusetts, died Saturday (Nov. 11, 2000) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Carl Ries as the celebrant. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City. A scriptural wake service will begin at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Kathryn "Kay" Cahill Memorial Fund.

Kathryn "Kay" Cahill was born Feb. 7, 1929, at Osage, the daughter of Lawrence and Helena (Koschmeider) Pint. She graduated from Osage High School in 1946. She worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Mason City for 32 years.

She was married to Martin Cahill on July 2, 1951, in Osage. Martin died on Sept. 5, 1968.

At the time of her death, she was working for Lundberg's Women's Clothing in Mason City. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and was very active in the Telephone Pioneers of America.

Kathryn is survived by two sons, Mark Cahill and his wife, Debbie, Plymouth, Minn., and Scott Cahill and his wife, Susan, Clive; a daughter, Kim Hansen, Mason City; five grandchildren, Jeremy Hansen, Mason City, Courtney Cahill and Erin Cahill, both of Plymouth, Minn., and Cassi Cahill and Emily Cahill, both of Clive; one great grandchild, Jada Hansen, Mason City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents; her husband, Martin; and one brother, Kenneth Pint.
