June 07, 1995ROCKWELL -- Evan L. Breeding, 94, of 213 Main St., Rockwell, died Saturday (June 3, 1995) at the Rockwell Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Rockwell Congregational Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Kathleen King. Interment will be in the Rockwell Cemetery. Visitation for the public will begin at 5 p.m. today at Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 120 S. Third St., Rockwell. Those planning an expression of sympathy may choose to direct their memorials to the Rockwell Library.
Evan was born on Sept. 1, 1900, the son of Paul Breeding and Maude (nee) Campbell Breeding.
He was born in Dekalb County, Ill. He is a graduate of Rockwell High School receiving his diploma in 1919. He graduated from Iowa State Teachers College with a B.A. and a Master's degree in teaching. Evan also attended Creighton College, and received a diploma in Bible study from Texas Bible College. He was a history and economics instructor in Baxter and Percival and was a football and basketball coach in Jesup. He taught for over 40 years and retired from the Jesup School System about 1965.
At that time he returned to Rockwell and has spent the rest of his life there. He was very proud to train and raise German Shorthair retrievers. As a boy scout commissioner for over 18 years, he organized various scout troops. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending many happy times at his cabin in Minnesota.
Evan is survived by his sister, Edris M. Hobson, Rockwell; and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Stanley Breeding, his sister, Cleo Woodward and her husband Ken, and his sister's husband, J.H. Hobson.
