PALM CITY, Fla. -- A memorial service to celebrate the life of Chris Bowcock will be held on Friday, July 29, at 6 p.m. at the Church of Christ, 710 North Kentucky Avenue, Mason City Iowa. Pastor Jason Miner will be officiating.

Chris E. Bowcock, 61, of Palm City, unexpectedly passed away June 21, 2016. He was born in Mason City, Iowa, on Sept. 29, 1954. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1973. He then attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis, Mn. He moved to Florida with his wife Raelynn 30 years ago. He worked in the auto industry as a Master ASE Auto Technician for most of his life.

Chris is survived by his wife of 37 years, Raelynn Bowcock, his brother, Ted Bowcock (Sue) of Owatonna, Minnesota, and his sister, Linda Bowcock, of Mason City, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Frankie Bowcock, and brother, Dan Bowcock.

He was born in Mason City, Iowa. He lived in Port St. Lucie for 10 years before moving to Palm City, where he resided for the last 20 years. He worked in the auto industry as a Master ASE Auto Technician for most of his life. He received numerous industry awards during those years. For the last three years, he worked as a return merchandise authorization coordinator for a marine manufacturing company.

Chris had many interests. He built plastic models on a professional level and competed at regional and national contests, where he won many awards throughout the years. His models were also shown in trade magazines. Chris was very interested in history, especially military history. He had great respect for veterans. He was a lifelong Vikings fan. He received immense joy from our little wildlife friends.

Chris loved the ocean, cars, board games, creating professional grade models, wildlife in his backyard, military history and his family. He was kind to all, honest, fun loving, creative and had a great sense of humor.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at Forest Hills Funeral Home, Palm City Chapel [Florida]. Visitation was from noon to 1 p.m., with service and burial following.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family or Treasure Coast Wildlife Center in Palm City, Florida.
