Rachel L. Austin, 14-year-old daughter of David and Susan Austin, 1513 10th St. S.W., died Thursday (Sept. 12, 1996) at University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City, due to complications from heart surgery.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City. Burial will be in Elmwood-St.Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., and one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday.

Rachel L. Austin, 14, of 1513 10th St. S.W., died Thursday (Sept. 12, 1996) at University Hospitals, Iowa City, due to complications of heart surgery.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. John "Jack" Gannett officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Rachel L. Austin Memorial Fund.

Rachel L. Austin was born Dec. 16, 1981, in Mason City, daughter of David and Susan (Kraft) Austin. Rachel was a freshman at Mason City High School.

She loved animals and enjoyed reading and playing games.

She did many activities with her family especially boating, tubing, and riding motorcycle with her dad.

She spent much of her time with her special friends, Brooke Harriman and Kendra Carpenter.

Rachel brought much pleasure and joy to her family and will be missed by all who knew her.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her parents, David and Sue Austin of Mason City; one brother, Bob Austin of Mason City; her maternal grandmother, Wanda Harrell, of Glenwood; her maternal grandfather, Chuck Kraft and his wife, Dixie, of Mason City; her paternal grandfather, John Austin of Mason City; five aunts and two uncles, Debbie Lutton of Omaha, Neb.; Linda Hanson of Mason City; Chuck Kraft of Mason City; Roger Austin of Glastonburry, Conn.; Cathy DeRoos of Rockwell; Karen Rosenberger of Mason City and Shelly VanNess of Mason City; and many cousins, aunts, uncles, great aunts and great uncles.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Joan Austin; one aunt, Teresa Lugar; and her great-grandparents.
