MASON CITY - Darrell "Andy" D. Anderson, 74, of 117 16th St. N.E. died Wednesday (June 13, 2001) at his residence.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday June 18, 2001 at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E. with the Rev. Jeff Dahlin of First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. A flag folding ceremony will be conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home on Sunday.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to direct memorials to the Darrell Anderson Memorial Fund.

Darrell was born March 13, 1927 the son of William and Hazel (Curtiss) Anderson in Mankato Township, Blue Earth County, Minn. Following high school Darrell went to work at Wilson and Co. Meat Packing.

On March 7, 1945 he enlisted into the United States Navy. Darrell served his country until his honorable discharge on July 10, 1946.

Following his tour of duty he returned to Wilson and Co. in Albert Lea and helped relative's farm on the side.

On May 7, 1955 Darrell was united in marriage to Ramona Harpel. The couple made there home in Mason City where Darrell began working for Jacob E. Decker and later Armours until his retirement.

Darrell loved to spend time outdoors whether it was fishing or passionately working in his garden. He also enjoyed playing cards with his friends.

Those thankful for having shared in Darrell's life include seven children, Pam Robinette and her husband, Larry, of Mason City, Penny Anderson, of Maine, Gene Anderson and his wife, Marilynn, Scott Anderson, Orville Anderson and his wife, Nancy, Henry Anderson, and LaMar Anderson, all of Mason City; a special friend, Connie Johnson, of Mason City; three sisters, Edith, Mary Lou Pearson of North Highland, Calif., and Maxine Campbell, of North Highland, Calif.; four brothers, Virgil Anderson, Dennis Anderson, and Bill Anderson all of Albert Lea, Minn., and Curt Anderson, of Glenville, Minn.; 16 grandchildren, Jennifer, Tyler, Curt, Scott, Kama, Krystel, Bobby, Jordan, Nicole, Miranda, Ramona, Tiffini, Christina, Justin, Destiny, and Hope.

Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ramona, in 1984; two sisters, Violet Svendfen, and Doris McCarty; and two brothers, Gary and Paul Anderson.
