Brian Anderson, 49, of Clear Lake died Monday (February 28, 2011) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, in Mason City.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday (March 4, 2011) at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, with Pastor Rich Murray officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Plymouth. Brian’s family requests casual attire be worn to the service.

Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel and will continue one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Should friends desire, memorials may be left to the Brian C. Anderson memorial fund.

Brian Charles Anderson was born on April 8, 1961 in Mason City to Charles and Virginia (Blakely) Anderson. He attended school at Mason City High School.

For nine years Brian worked at IMI Cornelius in Mason City until he decided to open his own landscaping business, Anderson Acres. For the past 17 years Brian has worked at Opportunity Village in Clear Lake in maintenance.

Brian greatly enjoyed being in the outdoors, whether he was out fishing or just going for a drive around the lake. He also loved to cook and grill, especially his homemade jerky. Brian’s favorite t.v. show to watch was “The Red Green Show” but he also liked watching NASCAR and cheering on his favorite football team, the Green Bay Packers.

Brian was very proud of, and loved spending time with his son, Mitch. He also liked spoiling the dogs, Emily and Muffin.

Throughout his life, whenever Brian found himself in times of struggle or sadness he would find comfort in praying and reading the Bible.

Those grateful in sharing in his life are his fiancé, Deb Kopp, Clear Lake; son, Mitch Anderson, Plymouth; mother, Virginia, Mountain Home, AR; grandmother, Lucile Wyborny, Moutain Home, AR; sister, Dawn (Jim) Lieser, Iowa Falls; half brothers, Chris Rowson and Marty Anderson; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and many friends.

Preceding him in death are his father, Charles Anderson and his grandfather, Don Wyborny.
