MASON CITY — Donald K. Allen Sr., 86, of Mason City, died on Thursday (Feb. 18, 2010) at home surrounded by his family.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, at St. James Lutheran Church, 1148 Fourth St. S.E. Mason City, with the Rev. Paul Nelson officiating.

Visitation with the family will be after the services at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa.

He is survived by Donald K. Allen Jr. (Joyce) of Mason City, James Allen (Linda) of Mason City, Bonnie Rosa-Mosena (Steve Mosena) of Clive, Linda Dodson (Jim) of Maryland, Susan Flores of Mason City, Jeannie Hanson (Mark) of Glenville, Minn., Martin Allen (Shelly) of Mason City. Donald is survived by 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, sisters, Dorothy Blakesly, of Seattle, Wash., Patsi Paul of Bemidji, Minn., brothers, Jesse Allen, of Mason City, Gail Allen, of Meservey, Jerry Allen, of Yucca Valley, Calif.

Preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and sisters, one grandson, one son-in-law, and one daughter-in-law.

Don was an avid sportsman, archer, and fisherman. He loved to bowl, spend time with his family and was an avid reader of Louis Lamour. He retired from the Teamsters Union as a Union Steward after 29 years.
