CLEAR LAKE - Roberta Rose Buhr, 71, of 512 S. 12th St., Clear Lake, died Tuesday (May 11, 1999) at the Heritage Nursing Home, Mason City.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Kermit Roisen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, and will continue one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.

Roberta Rose Buhr was born Aug. 11, 1927, in Thornburg, daughter of Franklin and Zella (Piersel) Axmear. She married John H. Buhr on Nov. 24, 1978, at the Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake.

Roberta was raised in Thornburg and graduated from Thornburg High School. She received her bachelor's degree from Iowa State. She taught elementary education for 31 years, the past 23 years in Clear Lake until retiring in 1988.

She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and traveling. Roberta loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and she was very devoted to her family.

She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and a 50-year member of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Iowa Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include her husband, John Buhr, of Clear Lake; three sons, Robert Franklin Edmundson and his wife, Shelly, of Arapaho, Neb., Roy William Edmundson and his wife, Ellen, of Culbertson, Neb., and Edgar Axmear Edmundson and his wife, Beth, of Charles City; two stepdaughters, Patricia Oorlog, of Burnsville, Minn., and Linda Jacobs and her husband, John, of Clinton; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one grandson, Kyle Edmundson.
