Roger was born on Sept. 4, 1947, to Roger W. Sr. and Bernice B. (Bartz) Buhr in Mason City. Roger attended and graduated from Mason City High School in 1965. He then was drafted into active service in the U.S. Army in 1966 where he served in Germany until 1968.

He met his high school sweetheart Jeanne R. Borchard and was married on Feb. 10, 1971. To this union bore two sons, Tim and Tony. Roger started working for American Crystal Sugar Co. with his father in 1969 and retired as a warehouse foreman after working for the company for 40 years.

He would always enjoy his fishing trips either up north or Clear Lake with his family and friends. He was always considered a handyman, from either fixing up old cars in his youth to his many woodworking projects that you could see in his home and the homes of his family and friends. Roger loved his visits with his lifelong friends and would never miss activities of his kids and his grandkids. His sense of humor and quick wit will be missed by all who knew him.
