CLINTON — Vivian G. Broadwell, 96, of 600 14th Ave., died Saturday (Aug. 30, 2003) at Wyndcrest Care Facility in Clinton.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E. in Mason City, with the Rev. Bill Poland of Wesley United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel,126 Third St. N.E. in Mason City.

Vivian Grace Broadwell was born Feb. 21, 1907, at Cedar Rapids, a daughter of Jesse and Mary (Miles) Ashlock.

She was united in marriage to Perley L. Broadwell on Jan. 4, 1928, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Mr. Broadwell died in 1975.

Vivian attended school in North Dakota. A 65-year resident of Mason City, Vivian worked as a supervisor for many years at Swift Company, Mason City. She later retired from the McLellan Department Store in Mason City in 1972. Since 1993 she has resided at Clinton.

Vivian was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Mason City, since joining in 1942.

She is survived by one daughter, Dixie Hoogheem and her husband, Ken, of Clinton; three grandsons, Colonel Steve Van Every and his wife, Bridget, Des Moines, Terry Van Every and Chris, of Madison, Wis., and Michael Van Every and his wife, Pam, Oconomowoc, Wis.; four great-grandchildren, Ryan, Joshua, Melissa, and Jessa; one step-great grandson, Shayne Cobine and his wife, Katie; one step-great-great grandson, Gavin Cobine; two sisters, Genevive Peterson, Como, Miss.; Dorothy Birch, of Mason City; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Ashlock, of Emporia, Kan.; and many nieces and nephews.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Gerald and George Ashlock; and two sisters, Myrtle Muhlstein and Geraldine Wilhite.

Pallbearers will be Gene Chinander, Art Harris, Steve Van Every, Ryan and Josh Van Every, Terry Van Every and Michael Van Every.
