Mason City — Margaret E. “Peggy” Brindley, 91, of Mason City died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at the Good Shepherd Health Center.

A funeral service for Peggy will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 16, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, with the Rev. Kenneth B. Gehling officiating.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.

Following the funeral service, cremation rites will take place and a private burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the Mason City Public Library, 225 Second St. S.E., Mason City, Iowa, or to a charity of one’s choice.

Peggy was born Nov. 10, 1921, in Waterloo, daughter of J.E. Entz Sr. and Leone O’Dowd Entz. She grew up on the Entz farm south of Waterloo. Upon graduation from Orange Township Consolidated High School on May 18, 1939, Peggy attended Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) where she received her B.A. on May 23, 1943.

Peggy married Robert W. Brindley on May 16, 1945, in Waterloo. She was a longtime resident of Mason city, where at the time of her death, Peggy was an active member of PEO, Chapter IY and a 60-year member of the Mariah Mitchell Study Club.

Three generations of children will treasure her memory: Her children, Barbara B. Yankey (Jon) of Clive, Iowa, Robert J. Brindley (Mary) of Carver, Minn., and John M. Brindley (Pam) of Bayfield, Wis; grandchildren, Jon W. Yankey (Kari), Tadd E. Brindley (Margaret), Elizabeth J. Wickman (Chad), Katie M. Severn (Aaron), Robert T. Brindley (Jessica), Joseph M. Yankey (Julie), Maggie Bruecken (Nick), Carey Anderson (Jon); great-grandchildren, JJ, Jackson, Nina, Olivia, Henry, Leo, Isabelle, Mathias, Everett, Greyson, Will, Mack, Molly and three yet to be born. She is also survived by her brothers, Joe Entz (Patty) and John Entz (Dorene), along with many nieces, nephews and an amazing community of friends.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; and sisters, Julia Boysen and Jeanette Brasch.
