MASON CITY | Geraldine C. (Hohenfield) Bramsen, 82, of Mason City, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Kent Mechler officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com .

Gerrie was born Feb. 8, 1932 in Beatrice, Nebraska. She was one of eleven children. She grew up in Mason City attending schools here. Gerrie married in 1953 and was a military wife. Following her husband’s retirement, she moved back to Mason City. Gerrie worked at Guardian Photo, Americana Health Care Center and Minnesota Rubber. Just a few of her interests included painting and following the Chicago Cubs. She was an avid fan. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gerrie is survived by her children, Linda (Michael) Smith of Mason City, Dennis “Butch” (Vicki) Bramsen of Mason City and Billy Bramsen of Mason City; grandchildren, Justin Ellman and Vanessa McCoy of Marquette, Michigan, Jarred (Stephanie) Ellman of Mason City, Jordan Ellman and Nicole York of Mason City, Mandy Herzberg and Travis Adams of Kensett, Ben Bramsen of Hawaii and Jeramy Schiefelbein of Mason City; great-grandchildren, Braxton Ellman, Sierra Herzberg, McKenzie Herzberg, Christopher Adams, Zane and Lexi Schiefelbein; three sisters, Virginia Thomas of Rantoul, Illinois, Rae Husak of Mankato, Minnesota, and Loretta Shultz of Mason City; one brother, Donald Hohenfield of Rockford, Illinois, and many nieces and nephews.

Gerrie was preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph and Helen Hohenfield; grandson, Christopher Bramsen; six brothers and sisters.
