MASON CITY — Billy Gene Bramsen, 56, of Mason City, died Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa in Mason City.

A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE, Mason City, with Reverend Arthur Zewert officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be held from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Billy was born on Feb. 3, 1960, the son of Duane and Geraldine (Hohenfield) Bramsen in Springfield, Massachusetts. Being a military family, they enjoyed living all over the country. Billy graduated from Gwinn High School in Gwinn, Michigan. He worked for Jet Stream, IMI, AMPI, and Bramsen’s Upholstery for a number of years before being self-employed, enabling him to go back to school at NIACC.

To say that Billy loved music would be a gross understatement. He lived and breathed music. He was a “guitar man” from birth… Get Serious … Bramsen-Cooper … and anytime, anywhere he could jump in to jam. We will all miss watching his magic fingers dance across the strings.

His family, friends and even those who met him five minutes earlier instantly felt his big heart and love of life. He was his own person, choosing to live his life to whatever song happened to be playing in his head that day.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Ben Bramsen, Honolulu, Hawaii, and Jeremy Schiefelbien, Mason City; grandchildren, Zane and Alexis Schiefelbien; sister, Linda (Mike) Smith, and brother, Dennis "Butch" (Vic) Bramsen; niece, Mandy (Travis) Bramsen; nephews, Justin, Jarred (Stephanie) and Jordan (Nicole) Ellman; and great nieces and nephews, Sierra, Christopher and McKenzie, Braxton and Brooks.

Billy is preceded in death by his parents Duane and Gerrie, and a nephew, Christopher Bramsen.

Billy is now whole again, barefoot, playing for our family and friends in heaven.
