Clarabelle "Belle" Branan, 89, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away Thursday June 26, 2014, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa.

Belle was born May 21, 1925, to Melvin Lowell and Ethel Grace (Skinner) Beal in Geneva, Iowa. Belle attended Geneva schools, until her mother died, then she moved to Des Moines to live with her brother and graduated from Lincoln High School in Des Moines, Iowa. After graduation she attended A.I.B. Business College in Des Moines.

She was united in marriage to Wayne R. Branan on June 29, 1946, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Wayne passed away on October 16, 1985. Belle worked at Reminder Printing Company and then at Franklin General Hospital as ward supervisor in 1981. She and Wayne moved to Clear Lake when Wayne retired, and she worked for a short time at L&J Mobile Home Repair. She was a member of the Hampton United Methodist Church in Hampton. She enjoyed traveling, camping, reading, working crossword puzzles and painting. Throughout the years, she researched both sides of the family and compiled the information into a very interesting and detailed memoir.

Belle is survived by her son Ron and Julie Branan of Belton, Missouri, son Richard and Judy Branan of Mason City, daughter Shirley and Jim Mejia of Hampton; grandchildren Scott (Kathy) Branan, Tracy (Rory) Mauschbaugh, Cleve Branan, Brett (Jen) Branan, Chad (Alissa) Martin, Justin Mejia, Cristie (Alan) Larson, Jimmy Mejia and Betty Smith and Friend Kyle Graney; seventeen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers and sisters: Floy, Adelbert, Laura, Lee, Lois, June, Cyrus, Richard, and Nola.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Hampton United Methodist Church. Burial will take place at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City, Iowa.

Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home of Hampton, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
