MASON CITY - Robert O. Bowen, 79, of 1021 12th St. N.E., died Sunday (Dec. 10, 2000) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

Memorial services will be held sometime in the spring.

A time of remembrance and reflection for family and friends will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City.

Memorials may be given to the Robert O. Bowen Memorial Fund.

Robert O. Bowen was born on July 18, 1930, in Mason City, the son of Rupert and Daisy Mae (Moore) Bowen. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1948 and received Associate of Arts Degrees from NIACC. Robert's military career lasted for 21 years and took him to Europe, Korea and the United States. While serving in Salzburg, Austria, he married his wife, Inge.

After his retirement in 1971 he worked for the North Iowa Area Crime Commission, the Iowa Department of Revenue and Hawkeye Auto Body.

Robert was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the V.F.W. and several genealogy associations.

He is survived by his wife, Inge, of Mason City; two sons, Robert and Connie (Bancroft) Bowen, of Canton, Ohio; children, Anaise, Rebekah, Emily and Elliot, and Michael R. Bowen, of Mason City; and three daughters, Sylvia Ann (Bowen) Bard and husband, Douglas, and their daughter, Melodie, of Champlin, Minn., Cynthia Bowen and husband, John Brown and their children, Whitney, Vanessa, and Spencer, of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Katrina Mae Bowen, of Mason City, Iowa. He is also survived by his brothers, Chester A. Bowen, of Big Bear City, Calif., and James R. Bowen, of Harrison, Ark.
