MASON CITY — Lois J. Bowen, 86, of Mason City, passed away peacefully from complications of Alzheimer’s disease on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at the Good Shepherd Health Center.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 16, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1402 S. Pennsylvania Ave., with Rev. Keith Scott officiating.

A gathering of friends and family will be held one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. Inurnment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Lois J. Bowen memorial fund in care of the family.

Lois June Bowen was born Feb. 24, 1926, on a farm east of Garner, the daughter of Floyd and Helen (Johnston) Fiero. She graduated from Garner High School in 1944.

She was married to Ralph L. Bowen at the United Presbyterian Church in Garner on Aug. 15, 1947. They farmed northeast of Mason City from 1947 to 1977.

She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir, Women’s Club and many other groups. She enjoyed music and it was an important part of her life. She enjoyed the time she spent with her friends and family and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Lois is survived by her children, Barbara (Don) Feuerhak of Cedar Falls, Michael Bowen (Sarah) of Mason City, William Bowen (Barbara Jo) of Mason City and Rebecca (Stewart) Clawson of Burnsville, Minn.; grandchildren, Jennifer Shila (Paulo), Delaney and Katelyn, Katie Schultz (Seth) and Matthew and Chloe, Lisa Buettner (Jeff) and son, Ben; Reed and Brittany Bowen and Rachel Bowen; and one loving sister, Charlotte “Pat” (Tom) Treloar of rural Clear Lake.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Helen Fiero; husband, Ralph, in 1982; sister, Betty Quintis; brother, Robert Nelson Fiero.
