Marlys B. Leaman, 73, of 408 15th St. S.E., Mason City, died Thursday (Dec. 28, 1995) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Merlin Ackerson of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, Charles City.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, and will continue until time of services on Saturday.

The family suggests memorials to the Marlys B. Leaman Memorial Fund.

Marlys was born Oct. 26, 1922, in Greene, a daughter of Ben and Lola (Woodley) VanHorn. At an early age Marlys moved to Charles City where eventually she met her husband. They were married June 15, 1942, in Salome, Ariz. The Leamans moved to Mason City in 1951. Marlys was a member of the Birthday Club along with many of her friends. She enjoyed her grandchildren, crocheting, traveling, ceramics and her flower garden.

Survivors include her husband, Robert E. Leaman of Mason City; daughters, Janice Weaver and her husband, David, of Mason City, and Linda Wilmoth and her husband, Roy, of Belmond; five grandchildren, Michelle Weaver, Melissa Ralston, Robert Weaver, Dawn Shane and Tamara Postula; three great-grandchildren, Chelsea Shane, Jessica Postula and Seth Ralston; two brothers, Dean VanHorn of Minneapolis and Keith VanHorn of Charles City; one sister, Carol Hartman of Mesa, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Lloyd.
