MASON CITY — Robert M. LaVallee, 66, of Mason City, died Monday (Jan. 28, 2008) at Mercy Medical Health Center-North Iowa.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Faith Baptist Church, 1807 S. Kentucky Ave. with Pastor Miles Grismore officiating. Interment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the Faith Baptist Church.

Robert Monroe LaVallee was born Oct. 11, 1941 in Sacramento, Calif., the son of Louis and Ella (Sheffield) LaVallee. He attended school in San Diego and graduated from Waterman High School in Ione, Calif.

Bob accepted Christ as his personal savior when he was 17 years old. Bob met his wife Rosie while in California and they later where married on April 25, 1970. To this union two children were born, Robert and Yvette.

They moved to Waterloo in 1980 where the family lived until moving to Mason City in 1994 where he went to work for the Petal Shoppe in Clear Lake until his health started to fail in 2006.

Bob enjoyed reading, fishing, camping and gardening. Bob and Rosie always had a large garden of flowers in their backyard and Bob was especially fond of roses. He took great pride every summer planting and tending to his flower garden. He was involved with the Jackson-Perkins as a Rose Tester.

Bob enjoyed reading the Bible and being involved in his church, he was also proud of his country and was very patriotic. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his granddaughter, Megan.

Bob is survived by his wife, Rosie LaVallee, of Mason City; children, Robert LaVallee, of Mason City, and Yvette LaVallee, of Waterloo; granddaughter, Megan LaVallee, of Mason City.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, John LaVallee.
