George Kramer, 88, of 1000 N. Eisenhower Ave., Mason City, died Saturday (Sept. 14, 1996) at the IOOF Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Church, 200 14th St. N.W., with the Rev. Herbert Shafer officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Swaledale.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and one hour prior to services at the church.

Memorials may be given to the George Kramer Memorial Fund in his memory.

George Kramer was born Feb. 17, 1908, in Holland, the son of Jake and Gertrude (Klap) Kramer.

The Kramer family immigrated to the United States when George was 5 years old and settled in the Rockwell area.

George attended school in Rockwell.

He married Lulu Gast on May 28, 1935, at Grand Rapids, Mich.

The Kramers lived in Waukee for 45 years. During that time, George served as manager of the Waukee Co-op Elevator for 26 years, was director of Farmland Industries for eight years, served on the town council and was mayor of Waukee for six years.

The Kramers moved to Hampton where they lived three years and in 1992 moved to Mason City.

George was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, the Lions Club and served on the board of directors at the Boone Valley Co-op Soybean Processing Plant.

Survivors include his wife, Lulu V. Kramer of Mason City; son, Richard Kramer and his wife, Sharon, of Livermore, Calif.; son, Donald Kramer and his wife, Marianne of Portland, Ore.; daughter, Marilyn Sassman and her husband, Ron, of Longwood, Fla.; grandchildren, Steven Kramer and wife, Kelly; Scott, Stephanie and Kelly Kramer; sister, Alfina Jones and her husband, Leo, of Mason City; brother, Jake Kramer and his wife, Arlene, of S. San Francisco, Calif.; sister, Dena Colby and her husband, John, of Mason City; brother, Ralph Kramer and his wife, Reuberta, of Sheffield; brother, Pete Kramer and his wife, Beatrice, of Hampton; brother, Paul Kramer and his wife, Margaret, of Los Angeles, Calif.; sister, Dorothy Deam of Mason City; brother, Marvin Kramer and his wife, Marlys, of Council Grove, Kan.; sister, Grace Faber of Mason City; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Chris Kramer; a brother, Raymond, in infancy; and two sisters, Rose May and Gertrude Rule.
