Anthony Gus "Tony" Kantaris, 42, of 833 Eighth St. S.E., Mason City, died Monday (May 29, 1995) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East of an aortic aneurysm.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Transfiguration, 1311 Second St. S.W., with the Rev. Joseph Mirowski officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., where a Trisagion prayer service was held at 7 p.m.

Memorials in memory of Tony may be given to the Greek Orthodox Church of the Transfiguration, 1311 Second St. S.W., Mason City, Iowa 50401.

Tony was born March 10, 1953, at Mason City, son of Gus James Kantaris and Caroline Mary (nee) Jordan Kantaris. He was a 1971 graduate of Johnson High School, Sioux Falls, S.D. Tony inspired his father to open a restaurant which became the Athenian Supper Club. He worked at the Athenian for 14 years.

After his family sold the Athenian Supper Club, Tony worked at the Prime N Wine for seven years. Currently Tony worked at Diamond K's Supper Club, Clear Lake. Tony enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling and fishing.

He will be remembered for his kind heart. Tony will be truly missed by his family and loved ones.

He is survived by his father, Gus James Kantaris and his special friend, Sharon Thornton, both of Mason City; his fiancee, Paula Rickoff Moore, of Mason City; three sisters, Kym Sutton and her husband, Randy, of Taylorville, Ill.; Jami Craig and her husband, Jeff, of Mason City; Dena Hahn and her husband, Kris, of Mason City; four nieces, including a special niece, Mary Krauth Sutton of Mason City; Katherine Sutton, of Taylorville, Ill.; Caroline Morel of Mason City: Natalie Morel of Mason City; a nephew, Kristofer Hahn of Mason City; eight aunts, Stella Markos of Mason City, Helen Sponduris of Mason City; Irene Gazes of Mason City; Cristina Klein of Mason City; Annie Aptoslou of Detroit, Mich.; Mary Triantasillou of Detroit, Mich.; Betty Armoskos, of Alameda, Calif., and Jane Oliver and her husband, Jerry, of Safford, Ariz.; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Caroline Mary Jordan Kantaris; grandparents, Demitrios and Kallopie Kantaris and Albert and Lucille Jordan.
