Iva Miller, 90, of Thornton, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016, at the Sheffield Care Center. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Thornton. Interment will be at the Hampton Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Retz Funeral Home, Thornton.

Iva Marie Miller was born August 4th, 1925 a daughter of David and Lottie (Bonjour) Brady at Alexander. She attended school in Alexander and graduated from Thornton High School in 1943. She worked in the Thornton Telephone Office prior to her marriage with Myrl Miller on June 21, 1945 at Taunton, Massachusetts prior to his deployment to Europe.

After returning home they lived south of Meservey, working for the Ostendorf farm. In 1950 they started farming with Virgil Cook between Meservey and Klemme. In 1960 they moved to the Rebert Schumacker farm where they farmed until retiring and moving into Thornton.

Iva was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Thornton where she served almost every office in the UMW, she was a member of the Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed gardening.

Iva is survived by three sons: Richard (Kathy), Meservey; David (Mary), Manchester, MO; Dale (Nancy), Thornton; 8 grandchildren: Brian Miller; Shawn Miller; Joshua Miller; Sarah Miller; Karen Eftink; Chris Miller; Melanie Allen and Mindy Morris; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; 2 brothers: Glenn Brady, Clear Lake; Delmer Brady, Sheffield; brother-in-law: Roger Miller, Oregon and sister-in-law: Marge Taylor, California.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Myrl in 2009; daughter: Nancy Miller; sister: Eleanor Engebretson; brothers Lyle Brady, Melvin Brady and Robert Brady.
