MASON CITY - Karen J. Kirschenman, 61, of 1600 Royal Circle, died Sunday (March 3, 2002) at Muse-Norris Hospice in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E. Mason City, with Chaplain Rosie Schlueter, officiating. Following cremation, interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel, and one hour prior to services on Friday.

Karen was born Jan. 11, 1941, at Cedar Falls, a daughter of Harvey W. and Janet A. (Boose) Rayburn.

She was a graduate of Mason City High School and Hamilton Business College, Mason City. Karen worked at Principal Financial Group, Mason City, for several years, until retiring for health reasons.

Karen volunteered at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa and the Humane Society of North Iowa.

Karen enjoyed doing genealogy, and was a member of the North Central Genealogical Society.

She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Mason City.

Survivors include two daughters, Jean Mejia, Apple Valley, Minn.; Debbie Monaghan and her husband, Ron, Mason City; two grandchildren, Josh Moen, Mason City, and Demi Monaghan, Mason City; two sisters, Kathy Kittleson, Roseville, Minn., and Carol Janet Rayburn, Mason City; and one brother, Charles Rayburn, Mason City.

She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents, and her parents.
