February 06, 1996Steven Bruce Kelly, 42, of Clear Lake, formerly of Northwood, died Sunday (Feb. 4, 1996) at Opportunity Village, Clear Lake.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home, Highway 65 South, Northwood, with the Rev. Mark Bents officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Rest Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and until time of services on Wednesday.
Steven Bruce Kelly was born Oct. 29, 1953, in Louisville, Ky., the son of Oscar Kelly Jr. and Carol (Rone) Kelly.
He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Louisville, Ky. At the age of 2 years, he moved to a farm south of Northwood, with his parents, brothers and sisters.
He attended First Lutheran Church in Northwood and was confirmed in 1967.
He attended the Northwood-Kensett Schools and graduated from high school in 1972.
He enlisted in the United States Army spending three years at Fort Riley, Kan., and twice took part in training exercises in Germany.
After his honorable discharge from the United States Army, he fell victim to a brain tumor and had been in declining health since.
For the last several years, he had resided at Opportunity Village in Clear Lake.
Survivors include his parents, Oscar and Carol Kelly of Northwood; five sisters, Hazel Claney and her husband, Robert, of Marshalltown; Ellen Montgomery and her husband, Steve Olson of Mason City; Debra Greene and her husband, Douglas, of Okeechobee, Fla.; Carol Marie of Mason City, and Rebecca Parcher and her husband, Kenneth, of Northwood; three brothers Ronald Kelly of Newton; David Kelly and his wife, Sue, of Anchorage, Alaska, and Oscar R. Kelly and his wife, Jocee, of Mason City. He also is survived by six nephews; three nieces; and several stepnieces and nephews; one great-nephew; and one aunt, Elanor Sammons of Louisville, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and two brothers, Robert Carl Kelly and Darrel Ray Kelly.
