Obituary ~ Louie Joehannas Kaduce
August 10, 1927 ~ October 12, 2015

Louie Kaduce, 88, of Meservey, passed away Monday, October 12, 2015, at the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Thornton with Rev. Rhea Evanson presiding. Interment with Veteran’s Honors by William J. Schmale Post 171, American Legion will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Thornton. Visitation will be 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday at Retz Funeral Home, Meservey.

Louie Joehannas Kaduce was born August 10, 1927, in Alexander, Iowa, a son of Lulof and Hanna (Suntken) Kaduce. He was educated in the Thornton School and left school when called into the Army during WWII. Louie was trained as a medic and faithfully served his country.

After returning home from the service Louie met Edith Brown at the Surf Ballroom and they were united in marriage December 1, 1951 in Wyconda, Missouri at her parent’s farm. Together they had six children.

Louie worked for many years at Fashion Farm near Meservey. He later worked for and retired from the Klemme Coop.

He was a longtime member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Thornton. Louie was a member of the Meservey American Legion post for 53 years and served as the commander for over 40 years!

He was a hardworking family man who cherished time spent with his family. Family trips to Missouri and trips to the fair in Owatonna with his grandchildren were special times.

In 2010, Louie participated in the Winnebago Honor Flight with many other WWII Veteran’s. He had many special memories from that trip, including his first airplane ride.

Louie is survived by his daughter: Jacqueline Faye (Bruce) Abbe, Woodbury, MN; Son: Jeffrey Louis (Dawn), Ventura; Daughter: Janet Louise(John)Haugen, Thompson; Daughter: Jennifer Edith Stadtlander (Scott Brown), Meservey; Son Jonathan Lulof (Julie), Meservey; Seven Grandchildren: Joshua (fiancé Kristina) Stadtlander, Belmond; Leah Abbe (Michael) Bloem, Woodbury, MN; Jeremy Sveen, Forest City; Amy Kaduce, Cedar Rapids; Rebecca Stadtlander, Meservey; Ryan (Devan) Kaduce, North Liberty; Christopher Kaduce, Meservey; Natasha Martinez, Dallas, TX; Lea Carlson, Meservey; Great Grandchildren: Zander McLemore; Josiah McLemore: Drake Kaduce; Charles Kaduce; Trevor Henry; Thomas Abbe Bloem; Sister-in-law: Ileta Krieger.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Edith, son Lynn Ellis, brother and sisters: Alvina, Ted, Dora, Louise, Jenny (died in infancy), Lavonne, Thelma (died in infancy) and Helen.
