Rufus W. Ginder, 73, of 433 28th St. S.W., Mason City, died Saturday (March 30, 1996) at the Heritage Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 2502 S. Jefferson Ave., with the Rev. DuWayne Dalen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Heart of Iowa Chapter, 2228 Lincoln Way, Ames, Iowa 50014, in memory of Rufus W. Ginder.

Rufus W. Ginder was born June 25, 1922, near Floyd, son of John and Rose (Popp) Ginder.

He was united in marriage to Helen I. During on March 21, 1945, in Osage.

Rufus grew up near Floyd and graduated from Immaculate Conception High School, Charles City, in 1942.

In 1958, he started working for Holsom Bakery and in 1961, he worked for the Mason City School System until retiring in 1984.

Rufus loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed working on automobiles and car engines.

He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the Moose Lodge.

Survivors include two sons, Del J. Ginder of Mason City, and Jerry Ginder and his wife, Cheryl, of Mason City; four grandchildren, Julie Bales and her husband, Troy, of Phoenix, Ariz.; Jan Williams and her husband, Scott, of Des Moines; Brian Ginder and Kevin Ginder, both of Mason City; two great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Bales of Phoenix, Ariz., and Hannah Williams of Des Moines; one sister, Marie Baker, Longville, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen, on Feb. 3, 1996; and one brother, Joseph Ginder.
