Bartley "Bart" W. Curran, 66, of 814 N. Hampshire Ave., died Wednesday (Jan. 31, 1996) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Kathy Graves, chaplain from Hospice of North Iowa, officiating.

There is no visitation. Major Erickson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Bartley "Bart" W. Curran was born May 30, 1929, the son of Bartley and Grace (Jones) Curran, in St. Paul, Minn. Bart moved to Rochester, Minn., as a young child. He attended Rochester schools until he moved with his family to Eyota, Minn., where he graduated from high school in 1947. Bart attended the Brown Institute of the Air in Minneapolis, Minn. Bart married Jean Scherer on Sept. 2, 1950, in Eyota, Minn.

Bart's first job was at WOBT in Rhinelander, Wis. Bart then entered the U.S. Marines and served in Hawaii and Japan during the Korean Conflict from 1952-1954.

Bart moved to Mason City in 1954 and started his career with KGLO Television Station, which is now KIMT-TV. Bart assisted with announcing, news reporting, sports and weather. Bart was the host of "Bart's Clubhouse" for 18 years. He later worked as production manager and operations manager until his retirement in 1991.

He was a member of the VFW and was an avid sports fan.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Curran of Mason City; three daughters, Becky Boyd and her husband, Mark, of Albert Lea, Minn.; Betty Havener and her husband, Denny, of Grapevine, Texas, and Bonny Carney and her husband, Chuck, of West Des Moines; one son, Brad Curran and his wife, In Sun, of Washington, D.C.; 12 grandchildren, Kerry, Kevin and Kelsey Boyd, Trisha and Kami Havener, Shannon, Ryan and Kaitlin Carney, and Sarah, Joshua, Daniel and Luke Curran; two sisters, Patricia Deason and her husband, Leo, of Sylmar, Calif., and Norene Lily of California; five brothers, Rodney Curran and his wife, Donna, of Eyota, Minn.; James Curran and his wife, Sue; Raymond Curran of Watertown, N.Y.; Jerry Curran and his wife, Socora of Costa Mesa, Calif., and Kenneth Curran and his wife, Vicki, of Glendale, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Alice Heaton of Rochester, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
