Max R. Boulton, Sr., 66, of 709 S. Massachusetts, died Saturday (April 6, 1996) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 301 S. Main, Ventura, with the Rev. Daird W. Korth officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., and one hour prior to services at the church.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, Hospice of North Iowa or the Max R. Boulton, Sr. memorial fund.

Max R. Boulton, Sr. was born Dec. 11, 1929 at Columbus Junction, a son of Frank and Bonnie (Hopkins) Boulton. He married Marilyn Morse on Nov. 17, 1984 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Ventura.

Max worked at Stockberger Transfer Company, Mason City, for 29 years, retiring in 1991. He enjoyed fishing, crossword puzzles, gardening, and super nintendo. He won many awards for rifle marksmanship.

He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Ventura; Teamsters, l, Mason City; and was a former member of the Mason City Gun Club.

A loving father and husband, Max is survived by his wife, Marilyn Boulton, Mason City; four sons, Michael R. Boulton and friend, Delores, Ft. Worth, Texas; Mark R. Boulton and friend, Donna, Kalamazoo, Mich.; Matthew R. Boulton, Ft. Levenworth, Kan.; Max R. Boulton, Jr. and wife, HyeonJu, Omaha, Neb.; a stepson, Mark A. Lansaw and wife, Joyce, Mason City; two daughters, Marsha R. Thayer, Clear Lake, and Merry R. Boulton-Trosper and husband, William, Grand Island, Neb.; a stepdaughter, Leanne F. Craig and husband, Mike, Mason City; 22 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Boulton, and Jim Boulton, both of Burlington; six sisters, Elizabeth Lott, Jersyville, Ill.; Shirley Ford, La.; Bonnie Clardige, Agency, Iowa; Hilda Sadler, Keokuk; Anna Hayes, New Rochelle, Ill.; Peggy Dean, Sioux City; additional family members, Linda Boulton, Wayland; and Joyce Boulton, Glenwood and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Martin Ralph Boulton; and a brother, Paul Boulton.
