January 26, 1996Everett Harness, 83, of 225 15th St. N.W., Mason City, died Thursday (Jan. 25, 1996) at home.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave.

January 29, 1996 ~ Everett Harness, 83, of 225 15th St. N.W., died Thursday (Jan. 25, 1996) at home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Harlan Stenberg officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the Everett Harness Memorial Fund.
Everett Harness was born July 5, 1912, in Clark County, Mo., a son of Benjamin and Lillie (Weller) Harness. He married Mary Jones on Dec. 21, 1934, in Carthage, Ill. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
The couple moved to Mason City in 1945. Mr. Harness worked 35 years as a heavy equipment operator for E.M. Duesenberg Construction Co., Clear Lake. He retired in 1980.
Mr. Harness was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Harness of Mason City; one daughter, Sherry Lynch, and her husband, John, of Dallas, Texas; a foster son, Wayne Ebbers of Rapid City, S.D.; four grandchildren, Michelle Lynch of Lewisville, Texas, Tony Harness of Danville, Ill., and Mika Morrison and Shannon Simmons, both of Mahomet, Ill.; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Alta Tweedy of Eugene, Ore.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Willis; one grandson, Michael; and two sisters.
