ROCKWELL — Terry L. Wedmore, 55, of 104 W. Elm St. Rockwell, died Sunday (Aug. 3, 2003) at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 307 E. Elm St. in Rockwell with the Rev. Craig Steimel and the Rev. Ken Gehling, celebrants of the Mass.

Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Rockwell. Full military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Gallagher Post #208 of Rockwell.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Fullerton Funeral Home, 120 Third St., in Rockwell, with a scripture wake service at 7:30 p.m.

Terry was born Aug. 15, 1947, in Mason City. Terry graduated from Mason City High School, Class of 1965. He graduated from North Iowa Area Community College and attended Iowa State University.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968. He earned two Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars during the Vietnam Conflict.

On May 27, 1978, Terry was united in marriage to Marsha Adams.

Terry served as mayor of Rockwell for eight years and served on the Rockwell City Council for four years. He was co-founder of the Rockwell EMTs with his father-in-law, Dr. Vincent Adams.

Terry served on numerous city, county and state committees including: E-911 Advisory Board, Rockwell-Swaledale School Booster and Music Booster Committees, EMS Advisory Board and State Disaster Committee.

He served as a lector at Sacred Heart Church.

Terry was the current president of the Mercy City Family Credit Union. He was also a current member of the American Legion Gallagher Post and the Rockwell Economic Development Committee.

Terry was previously employed as a fireman and fire inspector with the Mason City Fire Department.

Terry had worked at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa since 1975. He had been employed as Director of Risk Management and Safety. Terry currently was Director of Communications and Security.

Terry enjoyed attending his children's activities, hunting, fishing, playing cards, reading and cheering on the Atlanta Braves baseball team.

Those thankful for having shared in Terry's life include his wife, Marsha; children, Amber Wedmore of Des Moines, Abbey (Ben) Pitzenberger of North Liberty, Adam Wedmore at home and LeeAnn Leitner of Mason City; three grandchildren Jessica, Deryck and Cameron, of Mason City; parents, Charlene and Donald Wedmore, of Mason City; sisters, JoDee (Gene) Ward of Garner and Donna Theis, Chandler, Ariz.; brothers Randy (Cheryl) Wedmore, of Gilbert, Ariz. and Jim (Deb) Wedmore, of Tucson, Ariz.

Terry will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.
