Mason City, Cerro Gordo County, IowaDOUGHERTY - Services for Louis Van Lent, 87, Dougherty, who died Saturday [April 01, 1978] in a Mason City nursing home, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dougherty. Msr. John Thornton will officiate.
Mr. Van Lent came to the United States from Belgium in 1914, and lived in the Mason City and Dougherty areas since then. He was a retired farmer, a World War I veteran and a member of the American Legion.
Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today at St. Patrick School, where a rosary will be said at 8 p.m. tonight. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Rockwell.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. John (Helen) Fitzgerald, Boone; Mrs. Bernard (Mary) Murphy, Thornton; Mrs. Donald (Emily) Ginapp, Rockwell; and Mrs. Louis (Erma) Margen, Dubuque; four sons, Ted, Mason City; Walter, Algonquin, Ill.; and Joseph and Leonard, both of Des Moines; a sister, Mrs. Peter Mitchells, Belgium; a brother, Leopold, Belgium; 21 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
