Mason City, Cerro Gordo County, IowaRequiem Mass for William Smith, 85, was celebrated Monday at the Sacred Heart Church, Rockwell, with Father Raymond Bohrer, celebrant, and the Rev. Mr. Francis Campbell in the sanctuary.
Mr. Smith had died at a local nursing home Jan. 25th.
He was born Feb., 12, 1867, at Genoa, Ill., and moved here 60 years ago when he was engaged in dairy farming.
He is survived by a son, John Smith, of Hudson, Wisc.; a daughter, Mrs. Joe (Marguerite) Graney, of Lakewood, N. J.; a sister, Mrs. Katherine Penney, of Mason City; and 4 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife [p] in 1952, and a brother and two sisters.
The Sacred Heart Choir sang, accompanied by Sister Mary Casimir at the organ. Acolytes were Paul Sturges and Robert Scholl. Leo Halloran was crossbearer.
Pallbearers were Henry Scholl, Frank Sturges, A. M. Geer, Orbra Parks, Walter Logan and Paul Kirk. Chuck Behr and Tom Halloran were ushers.
Interment was at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
