MASON CITY - Duane R. Francis, 42, of 30 1/2 Second St. N.E., formerly of Rockwell, died Sunday (Jan. 9, 2000) at his home.

Funeral services for Duane Francis will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Fullerton Funeral Home, 120 S. Third St., Rockwell, with Father Leo Riley, pastor, of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Rockwell, officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date.

Visitation with the Family present will be from 4 p.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Duane Richard Francis was born Oct. 20, 1957 in Mason City, the son of George Woodrow and Delores Lorraine (Kollasch) Francis. He attended school at Sacred Heart School in Rockwell and Newman Catholic High School in Mason City.

While in high school, Duane was a respected athlete participating in track, baseball, football and basketball.

On March 14, 1989, he was united in marriage to Doris Arlene Armstrong.

Duane expressed his artistic ability through his painting. He found great satisfaction in reading. Duane was admired for his good sense of humor, as he often had lots of stories to share.

Those thankful for sharing Duane's life are his wife, Doris, of Mason City; his mother, Delores Francis, of Rockwell; eight brothers and sisters, Dan Francis and his wife, Marcia, of Arvada, Colo., Susan True and her husband, Dick, of Mason City, Denise Luecht, of Garland, Texas, Patricia Francis, of Burlingame, Calif., Dennis Francis, of Mason City, Michael Francis and his wife, Sheryl, of Mason City, Karen Hogen and her husband, John, of Mason City and Matthew Francis and his wife, Chris, of Hudson, Wis.; 24 nieces and nephews, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, and especially his cat, Jack-Sam.

He was preceded in death by his father, his grandparents, a brother in infancy and a niece in infancy.

[Interment was made at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Rockwell, Iowa.]
