Mason City, Cerro Gordo County, IowaROCKWELL - James L. “Jim” DeVary, 67, of Rockwell, died Friday (February 17, 2006) at his home.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, (February 21, 2006), at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 305 Elm Street East, Rockwell, with Reverend Craig E. Steimel, officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Rockwell.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M. Monday in the chapel at Sacred Heart School, Rockwell, where a scriptural wake service will be held at 7 P.M.
James L. DeVary was born on April 30, 1938 in Swaledale, son of Frank and Dorothy (Evans) DeVary. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1957. Jim worked for Dewey Electric and later Kehm Electric as an electrician for 42 years, and in that time, he only missed seven days of work.
Jim was united in marriage to Dorothy Behr on February 20, 1960. They would have celebrated their 46th year of marriage this February. Jim was a faithful and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.
Jim was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rockwell, a life long union Electrician, and a member of I.B.E.W. Local #288, Waterloo.
Jim liked to junk scrap metal. He was an avid NASCAR racing fan and regretted missing the Daytona 500, he also enjoyed the Minnesota Vikings . Jim loved to drive a scenic route in his truck “Old Yeller”. There were three things that Jim absolutely lived by, his shop, good “jimmyburgers’ and copper.
He will be greatly missed and loved by his wife Dorothy, Rockwell; four children, Mike DeVary, Rockwell; Mindy (John) Welling, Rockwell; Danny (Jayme) DeVary, Scottsdale, AZ; and Steve (Sarah) DeVary, Peculiar, MO; seven grandchildren, Makenzie, Mika and Benton Welling, Rockwell; Colin DeVary, Marble Rock; Caysie DeVary, Scottsdale, AZ; Liam DeVary, Peculiar, MO; and Cian DeVary, Mason City; mother-in-law, Mary H. Behr, Rockwell; two brothers, Duane (Barb) DeVary, Mason City; Virgil (Dorothy) DeVary, Garner; two sisters-in-law, Delores (Larry) Bernemann, Manly; Rilla (Pete) Arnold, Mason City; five brothers-in-law, Chuck (Sue) Behr, Mason City; Lee (Debbie) Behr, Rockwell; Ron (Bev) Behr, Rockwell; Paul Behr, Aurora, CO; Dennis (Jane) Behr, Rockwell; and many nieces, nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Dorothy, a brother, Eldon and his father in-law, LeRoy “Scoop” Behr.
