GRETCHEN S. PETERSEN

CLEAR LAKE – Mrs. Gretchen S. Petersen, 85, formerly of 716 N. 10th St., died Friday (July 23, 1993) at North Iowa Mercy Medical Center, east campus, Mason City.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Congregational Church, 205 W. 10th Ave. N., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Charles Williams officiating. She was cremated. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Family suggests memorials in her name. Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Gretchen S. Petersen was born Aug. 24, 1907, in rural Clear Lake, the daughter of Ned O. and Mayme (Cobb) Blackmore. She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1927.

She married Arthur G. Petersen on Dec. 24, 1930, at the First Congregational Church, Clear Lake.

She loved her family and loved to play bridge and cribbage.

She belonged to First Congregational Church, Clear Lake. She was past president of the A.Q. Chapter TTT. She was also past president of TTT Charity Ball.

She is survived by her son, Allan B. and his wife, Sharon Petersen, Clear Lake; one sister, Greta Klein, Clear Lake; three grandchildren, Lisa and her husband, Jim Engstrom, Minneapolis, Minn.; Jeff and his wife, Mary Petersen, Indianola, and Tracey Petersen, Minneapolis, Minn.; four great-grandchildren, Alex and Megan Petersen, Indianola, and Jessica and Joshua Engstrom, Minneapolis, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband on Sept. 22, 1986.
